Where will the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program be held?
The Sherpa Executive Coaching Program is a program of the Anderson School of Management’s Executive and Professional Education Center. The program sessions will be held at Hokona Hall on the University of New Mexico main campus.
How long is the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program?
The Sherpa Executive Coaching Program is a 60-hour training program, consisting of 2 weeks of classroom sessions separated by an individualized coaching practicum with supervision by a master Sherpa Coach.
Why is the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program taught in an intensive format instead of the usual 3- hour sessions common to CPD programs?
The Sherpa Executive Coaching Program combines didactics, a structured methodology and simulations and role-play activities. A longer daily session better accommodates the intensity of the program.
Who teaches in the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program?
The Coaching Program is taught by either Brenda Corbett or Judith Coleman, authors of The Sherpa Guide.
How is practicum coach/mentor assigned?
Each practicum coach/mentor is a Master Sherpa Coach. Each participant in the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program is individually assigned a coach, based on availability of the Master Coach and on input from the program trainers.
How often do I work with my coach/mentor during my practicum?
The Sherpa Executive Coaching Program has a structured process for guiding and supporting program participants through their practicum activities. Details related to selecting a practicum client, conducting the coaching sessions and working with your coaching supervisor are sent to the participant upon paid registration for the program.
Do I have to attend all the sessions?
Yes, attendance at all class sessions is required.
Can I do my practicum at another time?
Sherpa Coach training follows a precise process and timeline. Therefore, participating in your supervised practicum during the same period as the rest of your program cohort is required.
How much does the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program cost?
The fee for the Sherpa Executive Coaching program is $7,500. This includes 8 ½ days of classroom instruction, all materials, and supervised practicum time.
Does that program fee include accommodations?
- The Executive and Professional Education Center recognizes that participants coming to Albuquerque, New Mexico may decide on a range of accommodation choices from informal arrangements with friends or family, RV options, or local hotels. Therefore, we have not offered an all-inclusive package.
- We negotiated a preferred rate with Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town Albuquerque for program participants. The hotel has arranged complimentary transportation to and from the UNM campus, once in the morning and a return trip in the afternoon. EPEC strongly recommends that participants consider staying at the hotel to foster increased opportunities, continued learning, networking and support from the Sherpa trainers and program participants in the evenings.
Is there financial aid available to attend the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program?
The Executive and Professional Education program is not able to provide financial assistance. One creative approach used by other participants is to approach their employer or another business entity and offer free coaching for their organization’s employees in exchange for being sponsored for participation in the coaching program.
Is the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program eligible for VA or WIOA funding?
Each state has its own interpretation of VA and WIOA funding guidelines. The Executive and Professional Education Center recommends that you contact the respective agency representative in your area.
What is Your Refund Policy for this program?
Given the special nature of this program and limited seating, refunds are only available if a participant registers and cancels no later than six weeks prior to the start of the program ( For Fall 2017 that dates is July 31, 2017). The Executive and Professional Education Center’s $250.00 cancellation fee will apply and the remainder of any payment will be returned to the participant. NO refunds are available after July 31, 2017.
I live locally: do I have to stay at the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program hotel?
While there is no requirement to seek lodging in Albuquerque, it is advised to plan your schedule to allow for evening events or study/work sessions with your cohort mates.
Are meals (breakfast and lunch) included in the price of the program?
Yes, the Executive and Professional Education Center will provide a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, and beverages while participants are in class.
Do I have to attend the group dinner?
There is an expectation that participants in the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program will attend the group dinner and the graduation event.
Do I get a coaching certification at the end of the Sherpa Executive Coaching Program?
This program leads to the Sherpa Executive Coaching Certification. You can start an executive coaching career, add substance to your existing practice or use your skills as an in-house coach.
Is this program recognized by coach certifying bodies, like ICF?
Every classroom hour of the Sherpa Coaching certification is accepted by the International Coach Federation (ICF) in their portfolio application for certification.
Does this program lead to a good paying job?
An Executive Coaching certificate does provide a body of knowledge and a set of skills that adds value in many professional settings. However, finding employment, starting a coaching practice, or augmenting another professional role are dependent upon the efforts and goals of the individual participant.
